The Flourishing Soul Initiative

Our Vision
Why Postpartum Support and Infant Care?
The postpartum period is one of the most vulnerable times in a woman’s life.
Research shows that intimate partner violence (IPV) often begins or escalates during pregnancy and the first year after birth.
In the United States, approximately 1 in 4 women experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime, and studies indicate that rates of emotional and physical abuse remain high — and may increase in the months following childbirth, especially when mothers are isolated, financially dependent, or lacking support. Moms are often cut off from family, income, and support.
Our Mission
To provide compassionate, trauma-informed postpartum and infant care to mothers affected by abuse — during and after pregnancy. Whether a mom plans to transition into work and needs quality care for their child, or they are seeking emotional and side-by-side support as they recover, we are here to serve.
We accomplish this by:
-
Delivering trained and certified postpartum doula and infant caregiver support for mothers experiencing or recovering from abuse through the first six months postpartum.
-
Supporting emotional, physical, and practical needs during the overwhelming transition that follows childbirth, a time when isolation increases vulnerability to partner violence and mental health challenges.
-
Creating safe, non-judgmental care environments where survivors can rebuild confidence, regain autonomy, and access essential referrals for safety, legal support, housing, and mental health resources.
-
Collaborating with community partners to fill gaps in existing postpartum and post-crisis support systems.

Is It Abuse?
Abuse is not limited to physical violence. There are in fact over 6 forms of abuse that can take place within an intimate partner relationship. All forms are destructive and dangerous.
